The Challenge
Starting with a different camera provider
What started as a client request to get a time-lapse camera turned into a series of challenges:
- The camera was glitching, but support wouldn’t answer
- There was no central point of contact
- The online interface was hard to use
- Solutions were synonymous with just replacements (paired with delays)
IG1 Communications had turned to a lower-cost construction camera solution, but the issues with the service made them rethink their options. As a leading creative video and production agency, IG1 wanted a new camera partner that could be held to high standards for their HD videos. The Solution

Originally, IG1 was attracted to the other solution because of price, but the time spent and lost chasing after answers would ultimately cost more. After a referral from a project manager, IG1 replaced the cameras with OxBlue and instantly felt the difference.
Using the 8 MP Cobalt camera model, IG1 began capturing time-lapses for clients in HD. Through the easy-to-use web-app, they generated monthly time-lapse videos that they used in other multimedia and for various client needs.
The Implementation

For IG1, the white-glove support service provided by OxBlue made the biggest impact. On jobsites where they used the competitor camera, they’d lose weeks and valuable images due to needing constant replacements. There was no “troubleshooting” or attempts to walk through fixes.
When one of IG1’s client’s projects began in an area with varied cellular coverage, they were thankful to have OxBlue’s expert support rather than the round-robin help-desk roulette from the previous provider. Shipping out so many replacements meant IG1 lost money having to pay for additional shipping, getting lift equipment, and finding another installer.
This time, needing a replacement camera was an entirely different experience.

But the rural location of the jobsite meant IG1 was best serviced by a smaller wireless network. The OxBlue team replaced the data card on the camera, so IG1 had the strongest remote connection possible.
