ATLANTA, JULY 16, 2015 – The Armed Services YMCA is a nonprofit that provides programs and services to help make military life easier for enlisted men and women and their families. Headquartered in Springfield, Virginia, the national organization broke ground late this past May on a new facility in Killeen, Texas, home to Fort Hood. Based on the recommendation from an affiliate who had been on a similar project, the ASYMCA is using an OxBlue construction webcam to document and monitor construction.

“They had built a facility in New York a few years ago and had an OxBlue camera on that project. They said it was a must that we get a camera for this build,” explained John Marshall, program center director for ASYMCA Killeen.

The OxBlue construction camera is being used to track daily progress at the job site, document milestones, and engage supporters and the community the facility will serve when completed. Upon launch of their revamped website, slated for this fall, the ASYMCA will provide an open link that allows public access to real-time images from the live construction webcam; high-resolution archived images that document the project to date; and high-definition Instant Time-Lapse Videos. They will also feature OxBlue’s Professionally Produced Time-Lapse Movie after the build is complete.

“We’re proud the ASYMCA has chosen an OxBlue construction camera system to help make this important project a success.”
      –Chandler McCormack, OxBlue CEO

Marshall cites being able to monitor progress without driving to the job site every day as just one of the benefits of using the OxBlue construction camera. Another is transparency and the ability to document project milestones. “All the money for this project comes from various foundations,” said Marshall. “One foundation will send us the money they’ve pledged only when the concrete has been poured. Once that happens, I can send photos from the camera and secure their pledge.” The OxBlue construction camera interface enables authorized users to select and share job site images via email, complete with time and date stamps that document when work was done.

“Staying on schedule and within budget is essential for the success of any construction project,” said Chandler McCormack, OxBlue CEO. “For a nonprofit, that depends on charitable funding – for the project and its operations – the pressure to meet these goals is only intensified. Our construction cameras and time-lapse movies help clients achieve new efficiencies, safeguard against costly errors, and promote their work to investors and supporters. We’re proud the ASYMCA has chosen an OxBlue construction camera system to help make this important project a success.”

Scheduled for completion by Memorial Day, 2016, the new 55,000 square-foot facility will feature a 10-lane indoor pool, climbing wall, fitness area, and a kitchen used in their program for teaching and encouraging preparation of healthy meals. There will also be an area devoted to speech, physical, and occupational therapy for wounded soldiers. Marshall points out that the Killeen facility is the first ASYMCA to provide on-site therapy. On-site childcare will also be offered to make it easier for parents and caregivers to use the facility.
