What do construction cameras cost in 2026?

Price out a construction camera and the first number you'll hit is the hardware sticker: somewhere between $200 and $20,000, depending on the unit. It's the number every vendor leads with. It's also the wrong number to plan around.

An off-the-shelf camera from Amazon or eBay looks like the obvious win against that invoice: lower upfront cost, no vendor relationship, two-day shipping. But those cameras are built for homes and basic surveillance, not for a jobsite where conditions change every week. The stakes are real money. The National Equipment Register has long put annual U.S. construction equipment theft losses at $300 million to $1 billion, with roughly 1,000 pieces of equipment stolen every month.
